George Best was laid to rest today and his funeral at Parliment Buildings, Stormont has attracted a fair bit of coverage on the blogosphere, not all of which is positive. Personally I would agree with Jo's assessment that it was an extremely moving and fitting tribute to a truely great footballer. Speakers at the ceremony including George's son, sister, doctors and former teammates. Denis Law and Bobby McAlinden regaled the crowd, which included representatives from all walks of life, with tales of George as a young man during his time in England and America. The fond words of Professor Roger Williams reminded us that you didn't need to have known George during his footballing days to appreciate the man. We will probably never see his likes again.
