Say No to fees

I see a group of "academics" have recommended that fees be re introduced to Universities in the 26 counties. They say that this is the only way to increase the standard in Irish universities but personally I see this as the Celtic Tiger once more demanding that those with the least ability to handle the burden have to pay the costs. Students from the 26 counties already struggle as they do have the same resources in terms of student loans as their counterparts in the north. Third level fees must be opposed on both sides of the border. University has for too long been seen as an arena for the most privleged in society. This is a attitude which must be tackled and these plans, if implemented, will do great damage to the progress being made. Education is a right, not a privilege.
